Last month, the New York Mets took on the Philadelphia Phillies in a two-game series at the London Stadium in the third staging of the MLB World Tour: London Series.
As such, the London Series: Trafalgar Square Takeover baseball fan festival returned to the iconic landmark from Friday, 7th - Sunday, 9th June, brought by award-winning global experience design company Imagination in partnership with Major League Baseball (MLB).
The event provided an opportunity for fans to experience MLB with baseball activities, ballpark food, MLB merchandise and a programme of entertainment, including the live screening of both games of the MLB Tour: London Series 2024 Presented by Zoom Workplace.
At the centre of the festival was The Cage, MLB's unique immersive digital baseball experience, allowing visitors to smash home runs in Trafalgar Square, hitting real baseballs that were digitally visualised to soar across London's skyline.
Also, at the fan festival were two of our Gallery customised containers. One shipping container conversion was for Topps Baseball, hosting a photo booth where fans can create their own personalised Topps card. The other container was for New Era, providing a retail space for the sportswear brand.
The Event Structure shipping container conversions at fan zones
Fan zones have had a huge boost in popularity in recent years. The way fans engage at events has changed, presenting brands and events with an opportunity to connect with audiences by maximising their experience and creating positive experiences.
In 2022, England took a historic victory over Germany in the Women's Euros final. 7,000 lionhearts cheered from the Trafalgar Square Euros Fan Festival. For eight days, supporters could immerse themselves in the action, with a pop-up football pitch, exhibition games, coaching sessions, live panel discussions, box office screenings, merchandise stalls, and food and drink stands - three of our shipping container conversion activations hosted interactive experiences.
For the 2023 AIG Women's Open in London, there was a Festival Fan Village featuring thirteen customised container products, Gallery and Gallery Plus. From the containers, fans could partake in golf lessons, crazy golf, golf challenges, Cornhole and outdoor shuffleboard, and see trophies displayed.
In June of this year, the Brompton Bicycle World Championships made a welcome return to London. At the cycling event was the BCW festival zone with an array of activities for fans of all ages. Two Impact Premium customised containers were featured here, providing a branded presence for Brompton, a vision of Bigger Agency.
Shipping container conversions are incredibly versatile, capable of being fitted for a range of different fan zone applications, from catering to retailing and creating areas for family-focused or experiential marketing activities to take place.
