The 2023 AIG Women's Open at Walton Heath, London, was held Wednesday, 9th - Sunday, 13th August, marking the 47th playing of the event and the 23rd Major Championship.
The fifth major of 2023 women's golf was immensely fierce, with Lilia Vu claiming a six-shot victory at the AIG Women's Open, while home favourite Charley Hull finished second after another impressive display, making Walton Heath one to remember.
This golfing tournament was one to remember for many reasons. Alongside the world's top players playing an iconic course was entertainment for the whole family to enjoy and to inspire new audiences to attend the sport.
"Golf. Opened up." was the message from the R&A throughout the week, as the event hosted live music for the first time in AIG Women's Open history from chart-topping star Ellie Goulding, Q&A sessions with recognisable names and a Festival Fan Village featuring thirteen of our shipping container conversion products, Gallery and Gallery Plus.
The Festival Fan Village shipping container conversions
The Festival Fan Village generated plenty of interest and praise from audiences of all ages, offering an array of colour, noise and excitement, providing the perfect way to engage with those experiencing the sport for the first time.
From the thirteen shipping container conversions, fans could partake in golf lessons, crazy golf, and golf challenges. There were also non-golf activities, including virtual games, Cornhole and outdoor shuffleboard, as well as a trophy exhibition, chill-out areas and food and drink stalls.
While golf continued to be the star attraction, the event celebrated other women's sports with the live screening of the FIFA Women's World Cup hosted in the Festival Fan Village.
Shipping container conversion sporting fan zones
It is not the first time multiple shipping container conversion products have featured at fan zones for sporting events.
Last year, for the 2022 UEFA European Women's Football Championship, six of our shipping container products featured in the pre-tournament roadshow tour, drumming up excitement for the event, and at the London's Trafalgar Square Euros fan festival showing of the final.
Similarly, four shipping container products, two Studio and two Impact Premium customised containers, were featured in the 2019 Cricket World Cup fan zone. Shipping container conversions are incredibly versatile, ideal for all sporting event applications, from catering to retailing and creating areas for family-focused or experiential marketing activities.
Further, shipping container conversions are portable, allowing you to relocate to different locations when required - great for sporting event series occurring over multiple locations.
