2020 is coming to an end, and what a crazy year it has been for individuals, families, businesses, the events industry, and The Events Structure.
As lockdown hit the UK in March, and events suspended, we had to temporarily close our doors here at The Events Structure. But as lockdown lifted, we proved how resilient we are, as we adapted our approach to supplying structures, ensuring all roadshow trucks, event trailers, customised containers and self-drive vehicles were in line with the current government Covid-19 guidelines.
This resiliency allowed for us to work on some incredible projects in 2020. So, as the year ends, The Events Structure team have taken time to reflect on the last twelve months and celebrate this year's activations, instalments and custom-build projects.
1. Yorkshire Water custom-build escape room
Following on from their 2019 campaign, Yorkshire Water toured York earlier this year, with their custom-build "Unblock Against the Clock" shipping container activation in a bid to reduce the number of blockages in sewers. Users had to solve clues against the clock to escape the activation and win.
Working with iMP Experiential Agency, the custom-built escape room was made using two entry-level 20' ISO shipping containers on top of one another. Alongside an external staircase, the custom-build featured an internal slide going from the top counter to the bottom.
2. Canterbury’s changing-room inspired pop-up store
In February, we worked with client Gung Ho to deliver a shipping container pop-up store for Canterbury, erected outside Twickenham Stadium, London for two simultaneous weekends. The activation utilised a Gallery Plus customised container and welcomed rugby fans as they entered the stadium for the Guinness Six Nations match England v Ireland, and England v Wales.
For the pop-up store activation, our 20' shipping container conversion Gallery Plus was transformed to look like a rugby changing room, where all important decisions are made. Alongside imitation changing lockers, the latest Canterbury rugby kits hung, allowing visitors a chance to see and purchase.
3. NDEC’s informative mobile showroom
Earlier this year, the National Digital Exploration Centre used our Pursuit mobile showroom as a platform to showcase their latest digital innovations in cybersecurity. Hosted in Thales, the event targeted key figures in the area, giving first-hand insight into the NDEC.
The mobile showroom was branded internally and externally, equipped with lighting, air conditioning/heating, an extensive bar with running water and large refrigerators, providing the perfect backdrop to showcase the brand's innovations.
4. Custom-build shipping container café
In 2020, The Events Structure created and installed a custom-build shipping container cafe for a new business premise on the Angel Gate development in London.
The custom-build shipping container conversion cafe was built modifying a standard shipping container to fit the intended development's space. With a fully working sink and a counter worktop, under counter shelving and a designated place for a refrigerator, the cafe has everything to store and serve food adequately and hygienically.
5. Ultra-modern shipping container showroom
Another custom-build project in 2020 was to create a shipping container showroom for a global corporation.
Using several ISO shipping containers, the shipping container was fitted with glass panels and an open glass roof for an ultra-modern appearance that showcases the brand perfectly.
6. Back-stage shipping container bar
At the beginning of the year, we installed our shipping container conversion, Container Bar in ACC Liverpool for a renown and prestigious global event with a VIP guest list of world-leading creatives and decision-makers for four days of celebrating British creativity.
The Container Bar that was two 20' shipping containers stacked upon one another while featuring a serving counter, was placed behind the scenes to serve refreshments to performance creatives and guest speakers.
7. Gardner Denver Champion AirTech promotional tour
More recently, in October and November, long-standing client Gardner Denver went on a national B2B tour with our self-drive exhibition unit, Ranger, promoting their latest range of Champion AirTech air compressors and downstream equipment to businesses around the UK.
The tour allowed Gardner Denver to bring their product to the customer, giving them a chance to see the compressor in person and ask representatives any questions before making a purchase. Graphic wrapped and branded, the self-drive exhibition unit vehicle looked incredibly impressive in transit and while travelling.
8. Showcasing The Events Structure at EPS2020
In 2020, The Events Structure exhibited at the Event Production Show at ExCeL London, for the third year running; this year, taking along our multi-deck shipping container conversion, Impact Premium. The event is dedicated to the live events industry, bringing together event professionals from every sector.
The shipping container conversion was branded externally and internally, showcasing The Events Structure's diverse range of structures. Further, event-goers could see Impact Premium in person and action, choosing whether the structure would serve for their event marketing and application requirements.
2020 was a strange year for everyone around the globe, as the pandemic affected our lives in more ways than one. With saying that, we have created some incredible structures and were apart of some wonderful events.
