Over recent times, in the absence of major exhibitions, tradeshows and congresses, we have experienced an increase in clients looking at exhibition trailers for B2B and B2C roadshows. From our experience the most effective exhibition trailer truck-based roadshows have commonality, this being that they have been painstakingly planned and rigorously managed.
So, we thought it useful to share some of our key thoughts and roadshow recommendations.
1. Where is your audience?
Defining clearly, who your audience is, where you audience will be communicated to and what type of site location you are looking to deploy your exhibition trailer at is a critical first step in planning your experience. There could be space constraints, set-up restrictions, noise level criteria that will be critical to your solution.
If you are going directly to target audiences premises, having a solution that causes as smaller implication to local facilities will be critical in getting buy in. Likewise, factors such as ground conditions, gradients and surface will be important to your choices and recommendations.
2. What will the audience expectations be?
Planning a roadshow truck experience that meets and exceeds the expectations of your client is critical to making the experience as impactful as possible.
We often find that clients initially want a specific look and feel for their roadshow, but in considering more broadly what their audience might expect, they adjust their plans. This is also driven by issues like size vs aesthetic and accessibility vs exclusivity.
Clients are constantly amazed by how roomy our exhibition trailers can be, but moreover they also love how accessible our trucks can be.
3. Carefully consider the geography and logistics
The careful planning of your geography and logistics are pivotal to extracting the maximum value from your tour. This careful logistical planning will enable you to cover more ground, reach more venues and impact on a wider audience.
Using unproductive periods between events to cover the bigger distances, then having short distances between back to back events is a great example of being logistically prudent.
4. Exhibition Unit Selection
One of the beauties of our offering is the fleet size, giving clients a wide choice of options. At our state-of-the-art premises you can view and experience numerus options, enabling you to make back to back comparison.
We often find opinions can take a 180 degree turn when clients get to experience the different options first-hand. Space can be a key driver, but that first impression when approaching the vehicle can also be an important factor that can’t be judged purely from photography.
5. Graphics Design
Exterior graphics can form a big part of the overall cost of a roadshow, however they also are a huge part of the impact the experience has on the audience. Graphics that are designed carefully, but fully sympathetically designed to the brand image, can be delivered affordably without excessive cost.
The most cost-efficient approach is always to embrace the background colour of the vehicle, with text, logos and imagery added to supplement this. One aspect often initially overlooked is how the experience looks when travelling, the design needs to ensure that the look still works when the exhibition trailer vehicle is packed away.
6. Internal Design
The internal design of the experience has never been more critical than in the post Covid 19 environment. The design of walk through experiences with a definitive flow and entry and exit routes have become much more prevalent.
Likewise, material choices, cleanable surfaces and sanitisation stations have all become more important. It has also become noticeable that the trend for touchscreen experiences seem to have swapped to traditional screen media. However, the fundamentals of designing an experience that delivers the engagement needed to inspire your audience remain.
