Taking place over August Bank Holiday (Friday, 23rd – Sunday, 25th) was the Reading and Leeds Festivals, a pair of annual music festivals that take place simultaneously in Reading and Leeds in England.
Reading Festival is the oldest of the two festivals and is one of the world's most popular festivals. Many of the UK’s most successful rock and pop bands have played at the festival, with Foo Fighters, Post Malone, A Day to Remember and Blossoms playing this year.
In 2017, Reading Festival achieved 'disability gold' standard for its access in live music from the UK leading charity Attitude is Everything who work to improve deaf and disable people's access to live music. The festival has viewing platforms on every stage and a campsite with accessible toilets and showers.
Located in the disabled campsite was Co-Op Food's vending machine installation. Utilising one of our Gallery Plus event shipping containers, the pop-up installation featured two chilled meal deal vending machines, each holding more than 400 items each. Products included sandwiches, crisps, healthy snacks, fruit, chocolate and drinks.
The shipping container installation did not require staff monitoring, instead, the machine would send texts to Co-Op staff to alert them when they needed refilling.
A 20' upcycled converted shipping container, Gallery Plus opens to the front through a roller door system that opens to the access entrance to the internal environment. The environment is then extended to the exterior through a solid ramp with anti-slip flooring that allow for disabled access.
The Gallery Plus event container has an external 32-amps mains input that can be powered from an onsite mains power connection or generator input. Inside the container, the Gallery Plus event container has a fuse box and power distribution to 8 of 16amp socks. Both of which, making the event container ideal for powering refrigerators and storing food as well as experiential activities.
