The new 2024 British horror drama television miniseries Generation Z, made for Channel 4 by Ben Wheatley with an ensemble casting including Sue Johnston, Anita Dobson and Lewis Gribben was released Sunday, 13th October 2024.
The series begins as an army convoy overturns outside a care home in the fictional town of Dambury. The subsequent chemical leak seems to have turned the OAP residents into zombies, attacking the younger people, Generation Z, from the town.
To drum up excitement about the new TV series available to stream, an experiential activation was hosted with Ocean Media at Westfield Stratford City, Wednesday, 30th to Thursday, 31st October 2024, in conjunction with the city's Halloween activities.
The "Put Yourself on the Menu" experiential activation allowed fans to take their photograph with their head on a dinner plate, similar to the TV series promotional poster. The picture would then be shared on the billboard overhead for sixty seconds, making them the star of the shopping centre.
The experiential activation utilised the Studio Premium shipping container conversion. The corrugated exterior complemented the horror series, with "Pop into the container to get plated up!" across the back, applied with vinyl. The double cargo doors opened to explain the photobooth experience, while inside, the Channel 4 series was advertised.
Event structures for TV series promotion
This is not the first experiential activation with a photo booth experience for TV that we have proudly participated in alongside Ocean Media. In 2022, our Gallery customised container helped drum up excitement on social media at Westfield London shopping centre for the latest Kardashian series launch on Disney+.
Similar to the Generation Z experiential activation, the container invited passersby to get their photograph taken in the photo booth with the Kardashian family. The activation took place over the Easter holidays when footfall was anticipated to be high.
